Gemini’s “Personal Details” feature now free for everyone

Good news! Gemini’s “Personal Details” feature, once exclusive to Advanced users, is now available for free. This comes after other cool tools like uploading documents and creating images of people were made free too. So, what’s “Personal Details” all about?

With this feature, you can share bits about yourself—like your habits, job, or likes—and Gemini will remember them. That way, you don’t have to repeat yourself every time you chat. It’s only in English for now, but super handy! Here’s how it works:

  • I’m a vegetarian—skip the meat recipes.
  • Add a Spanish version after each reply.
  • For travel plans, show the daily cost.
  • I only code in JavaScript.
  • Keep answers short and sweet.

You can go to gemini.google.com/personal-details to add, change, or remove your info. Or just tell Gemini in a chat to note something down. If you don’t like it, you can turn it off in the settings.
Google first gave this memory perk to Gemini Advanced users back in November. Now, it’s slowly reaching free users over the last few days. It’s not everywhere yet—we’re mostly spotting it on gemini.google.com so far.

When it’s ready for you, you’ll see a hint to use it, or you can check Settings on the web sidebar for “Personal Details.” On your phone, it’s right at the top of the account menu. Don’t mix this up with the “chat recall” feature from earlier this month—that one lets Gemini peek at old conversations, but it’s still just for Advanced users. “Personal Details” makes chatting with Gemini smoother and more tailored to you. Whether you’re planning a trip or asking for code, it’s got your back without extra effort!
