Google TV is working hard to give users a more personal and fun experience. At CES 2025, the company shared some cool updates that make the system feel fresh and lively. A recent survey from Google TV even dropped hints about adding Gemini Live, giving us a sneak peek into what’s coming.

Google wants its TV system to do more than just play shows. By adding Gemini, they’re hoping to turn your TV into a helpful hub for the home. At CES 2025, we saw Gemini team up with Ambient Screensavers to bring new tricks to Google TV. Think of a calm mode showing stuff like weather updates or live camera views. There’s also a handy “on-screen hub” that pops up when you walk near the TV, thanks to smart sensors.

The survey, shared through the Google TV Advisors program, asked people how they’d use Gemini Live, Ambient Screensavers, and News Briefs. While Ambient Screensavers and News Briefs aren’t brand-new, Google seems eager to hear what users think. They’re testing simple ways to explain these exciting updates. Here’s what they showed:

Ambient Screensaver with News Briefs

  • Option 1: Your TV’s improved Ambient Screensaver isn’t just for pretty pictures anymore. It can show the time, weather, and news updates, helping you and your family stay ready for the day.
  • Option 2: The upgraded Ambient Screensaver shows your favorite pics until you get close. Then, it switches to useful info like time, weather, and news, keeping things simple for everyone.
  • Option 3: When you’re near, your TV’s Ambient Screensaver shifts from art to a quick look at time, weather, and news, making daily info easy to grab.

Gemini Live on Google TV

  • Option 1: Got a question while watching? Gemini Live lets you chat naturally with your TV without leaving your show, answering you right away.
  • Option 2: With Gemini Live, your TV can:
    • Chat about what you’re watching.
    • Help brainstorm ideas, like recipes or party plans.
    • Talk about anything you’re curious about.
    • Practice for big moments like interviews with ease.
  • Option 3: Gemini Live brings smooth talks where you can jump in anytime, brainstorm out loud, explore new topics, or rehearse for something important with tips from Gemini.

Google’s survey shows they’re serious about making Gemini Live a big deal on TV. With far-field mics, you might not even need a remote to chat. While no exact date was shared, these ideas could roll out soon, making Google TV smarter and more fun!
