Google Calendar gets a simple Gemini upgrade

Published

on

Google Calendar is adding a new feature called the Gemini side panel to its web version. This handy tool is being tested right now in Workspace Labs. You’ll spot the Gemini sparkle icon in the top-right corner of calendar.google.com, right between the Calendar/Tasks switcher and the app launcher. When you click it, a side panel pops up—the same one you might have seen in Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Chat.

With Gemini in Google Calendar, you can chat with it to:

Check Your Plans

  • “When do I meet Annie next?”
  • “What time’s my first meeting tomorrow?”
  • “How many meetings are on my Friday?”

Add New Events

  • “Put brunch on Saturday at 11 AM in my calendar.”
  • “Set up a workout every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6 AM.”
  • “Add a one-hour event called Commute at 8 AM and 5 PM today.”
  • Quick Tip: After adding an event, click it to invite people yourself.

Find Event Info

  • “When does my next workout start?”
  • “How long’s my meeting with Jim?”
  • “Where’s today’s lunch happening?”

Right now, this Gemini side panel is only available to some people testing it through Workspace Labs. It makes managing your schedule easier by letting you talk to it naturally, just like asking a friend. Whether you’re checking what’s next, setting up something new, or digging into details, Gemini keeps things simple and quick.
This update shows Google’s push to make its tools smarter and more helpful. If you’re in Workspace Labs, give it a try and see how it fits into your day!
