Pixel 9a’s fresh purple look and small camera bump revealed in new leaks

Before its big reveal, more leaks about the Pixel 9a have popped up online, giving us a peek at its cool purple shade and a closer look at Google’s budget-friendly phone. These latest leaks come from Evan Blass, shared on a private Twitter/X account. They seem to be official promo images of the Pixel 9a. Most of what’s shown isn’t super surprising—there’s talk of Gemini, Google apps, Feature Drops, and how it fits into the Pixel family. There’s even a quick mention of Theft Detection.

But the real star here is the Pixel 9a’s new purple color, likely named “Iris.” The leaks show it next to other colors in the lineup and in different settings, letting us see how it looks. It’s a fresh and fun vibe for this mid-range phone. Another neat detail is the camera bump—or how tiny it is. On the Pixel 9a, the camera sticks out just a little from the back, reminding me of phones from a few years ago, not the big bumps we see now. This might be because the phone is a bit thicker, which could also mean a larger battery is inside.

Google is set to officially announce the Pixel 9a later this month, with rumors pointing to March 26 as the launch date.
