Pixel 9’s new camera linking feature – Easy Setup Guide

Google recently shared exciting news with its March 2025 Feature Drop: the Pixel 9 series can now link up with other cameras while live streaming! This cool feature, called “Connected Cameras,” works on the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. You can use it on apps like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok.

To make it work, you’ll need a Pixel 6 or newer or a GoPro 10 or later, all updated with the latest software. Check that your phone has the latest versions of Device Connectivity Service (1.0.717416888) and Pixel Camera Services (2.2.731017054.10) from the Play Store. Don’t worry—you don’t need Pixel Camera 9.8, which isn’t fully available yet.

When it’s ready on your phone, go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences. Look for the “Connected Cameras” option and switch it on. Next, open one of the supported apps. You’ll notice a small floating icon—tap it, and it turns into a Camera Picker button.

(If you’re not using it, drag it down to hide it, just like a mini video player.) Choose “Add Pixel” to see nearby devices tied to your Google Account. On the second device, agree to share its camera and pick either the front or back lens. Back on your main phone, you’ll see a countdown before the video and sound switch over.

For a GoPro, pair it first by going to Settings > Connected devices > Pair new device. Once connected, it’ll show up in the Camera Picker automatically. A few things to keep in mind:

  • Linking a Pixel to a GoPro might take a moment to connect.
  • You can only use one extra camera at a time—if you want a different one, disconnect the first.
  • Using Bluetooth audio might lower the stream’s quality a bit.

This feature makes live streaming more fun and flexible—give it a try!
