Gemini might soon offer handy starter tips
You don’t need to fully open the Gemini app to use it. Just say “Hey Google” or hold down the power button, and a Gemini overlay pops up on your screen. Normally, it shows up by itself, waiting for your question. But soon, it might come with some helpful ideas to kick things off.
We peeked into the latest test version (16.9.39.sa.arm64) of the Google app and found something new. Google is trying out a tweak to the Gemini overlay. Instead of showing up empty on the Pixel launcher’s home screen, it now includes a few suggestion chips above the text box.
Here’s how this update works—it’s pretty simple. These suggestions act like little hints to get you going with the AI. Tap one of the chips, and it instantly fills the text box with a ready-made question. Hit send, and Gemini will give you answers based on that.
We don’t know yet if or when this feature will go live for everyone. It’s still in testing, so it’s a wait-and-see thing. But that’s not all that might be coming to Gemini soon. Support for a second language could also be on the way, which would make it even more useful. This small change could make Gemini feel friendlier and easier to use, especially if you’re not sure what to ask. Keep an eye out—it might just show up on your phone soon!
