Google rolls out Android 14 for Chromecast with Google TV
Google has started sending out the Android 14 update for Chromecast with Google TV just after the device went out of stock last month. This update was supposed to arrive by the end of 2024, but it’s here now. Named UTTC.241218.004, it’s a hefty 809 MB file that jumps your Chromecast from Android 12 straight to Android 14.
According to the update details, the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote now works with two cool features: “Find My Remote” and a “Customizable Button.” This is great news for anyone who bought the remote separately, as they can finally use these handy additions.
The update also boosts security, moving from the November 2024 patch to January 2025. Plus, it promises better “System Stability and Improvements” for smoother performance. It’s unclear if this will be the final big system upgrade for Chromecast with Google TV. Even though Google stopped making the device, they’re still supporting it with smaller updates.
Last year, in 2024, they rolled out eight updates, and we’ve already seen two in 2025. To grab the Android 14 update, head to your Chromecast with Google TV and check Settings > System > About > System update. This fresh update keeps your device running strong so you can keep enjoying your favorite shows without a hitch!
