Google adds new video-making tool Veo to Gemini app
Google has started adding a powerful video generator called Veo to its Gemini app. This tool can create high-quality videos just from written prompts. It’s Google’s answer to similar tools from OpenAI and other AI companies. Veo can make detailed 1080p videos that include realistic motion, editing effects like time-lapses, and different visual styles such as live-action or animation.
Veo understands what users want better than earlier tools and includes a deeper understanding of how people and objects should move in videos. Google says this makes it stand out from others. Right now, creators can try out Veo through Google’s VideoFX platform, but you need to join a waitlist.
Veo was announced during Google’s Cloud Next 2025 event and is now being added to the Gemini chatbot, starting with the web version. It will be available to more users in the coming months. This update is part of Google’s ongoing effort to put powerful AI tools directly into apps people already use.
Google is also being cautious about how this tech is used. Videos made by Veo will include invisible watermarks using DeepMind’s SynthID to help track AI-made content.
With Veo, Google hopes to give creators and everyday users a simple but advanced way to make professional-looking videos just by typing what they want to see.
