Google Assistant is being removed from older Fitbit smartwatches

Google is ending support for its Assistant on some older Fitbit smartwatches. Starting June 2025, devices like the Fitbit Sense and Versa 3 will no longer have access to Google Assistant. Users are now getting emails about this change, with a message saying: “Google Assistant will be removed from your Fitbit device soon.”

The removal begins on June 3, 2025. After that, users won’t be able to use voice commands or get help from the Assistant on these models. Fitbit added Google Assistant back in 2020, giving users a second option alongside Amazon Alexa. However, newer Fitbit models like the Versa 4 and Sense 2 no longer support Alexa either.

Google hasn’t clearly explained why it’s removing Assistant from these devices, but it could be part of a larger plan to simplify its services and focus more on Wear OS smartwatches, which offer better Google Assistant features. Google recently made changes to Assistant by shutting down some older features.

If you use Fitbit for voice help, this change might be disappointing. While Alexa still works on the Sense and Versa 3 for now, Google may phase that out too. The company is slowly shifting its focus toward newer software and hardware experiences.

Overall, this is another sign that Google wants to move forward with newer tech and leave behind older smartwatch features.
