Apple partnered with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT into iOS 18. Meanwhile, Apple was also in touch with Google for its Gemini AI solution on the iPhone, which might be announced in the future.

According to a rumor, the Apple iPhone may get Google Gemini as another third-party AI option in the future. Neowin (via TheVerge) spotted that the Apple Intelligence program may add Google Gemini as Apple’s new partner.

The announcement might be done during the Fall of 2024. As a result, Apple will offer a set of three AI models to iPhone users including its own Siri, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Google’s Gemini.

As the AI segment is heavily booming, Apple doesn’t want to stay behind its rivals. The company is exploring ways and trying to extend its partnership with industry rivals to keep an edge in artificial intelligence on the iPhone.

Samsung is said to make some Galaxy AI features paid for by the next year. Similarly, there are rumors that the Cupertino-based company may have been considering add-on features on a paid basis.

A new issue is causing weird question marks to appear in texts sent from iPhones to Android devices. The issue seemingly arose because of texts resorting to the SMS protocol. While iPhones receive accurate messages, Android devices are getting weird question marks in texts.

The question mark problem in texts reported by a few Canadian carriers. Whenever an iPhone user sends a text message to an Android user, weird question marks join the text. Consumers have reported their concerns on Reddit’s Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, and Koodo subreddits.

Apple announced to bring RCS support for iPhone models to enhance texting across platforms. RCS messaging is way more secure than the conventional SMS and MMS protocol. However, the company has yet to push the new feature to iPhone users on the Stable channel.

Temporary fix:

You can temporarily address the problem by adding a special character like ‘&’ or an emoji. AndroidPolice reports it to be a proven solution to the question marks issue in texts. We expect the weird bug will be addressed soon and users will have a better texting experience.

Apple could introduce an exclusive AI App Store in June 2024. A new research note suggests that the company could be planning to reveal a whole new AI App Store in the same month it traditionally holds its WWDC event.

Speaking to CNBC (via AndroidAuthority), Ben Reitzes of Melius Research, said that Apple is not really behind in the AI race. This means Apple has many things in its bag to initiate the AI era of iPhones.

Earlier, we’ve heard rumors about Gemini AI’s arrival on Apple iPhones. The company is in talks with Google to introduce futuristic and AI-powered features on iPhones and other ecosystem products.

Ben Reitzes believes that June 2024 is when Apple could start laying the groundwork for this new kind of app store “for how it’s going to work with AI” and “how you can buy AI apps through the app store.”

“I’m sure Apple will have their own apps. As usual, an AI assistant. Hopefully, they will upgrade Siri, which is probably needed. And then we’ll start to see how this could flow through to the services line,” Reitzes commented.
