Android Safe Browsing starts rolling out: What’s this, how to use

Google has started rolling out a new Android Safe Browsing feature. First spotted in October last year, this feature aims to protect your Android smartphone from threats by notifying you about potential security risks.

This new Android feature works by leveraging the SafetyNet Safe Browsing API to determine if a URL is a known threat. It’s designed to notify you of threats to your Android device, which could compromise security.

When enabled, Android’s Safe Browsing will issue a warning before you open a potentially dangerous link. It’s yet another effort by Google to mitigate threats and phishing sites on Android-powered devices.

Thanks to the SafetyNet Safe Browsing API, your Android device will also be able to conserve battery, limit bandwidth usage, and maintain user privacy along the way.

How to use?

The new Safe Browsing feature is rolling out through server-side distribution. It’s initially available on Google’s Pixel and the latest Galaxy smartphones. However, wider availability on GMS devices is likely.

You can activate the brand new Safe Browsing feature by accessing to Security and Privacy section in your phone’s Settings.
