There is a high chance of the first affordable foldable phone’s arrival from Samsung. However, a tipster revealed that Samsung could bring the first tri-fold device to its foldable product segment this year. At the same time, Huawei is all set to bring its first tri-fold product in the second quarter.

As Samsung is the world’s biggest smartphone maker as well as display manufacturer, it can’t easily lose the opportunity to be the first with a tri-fold device. Rather than a full-fledged commercialization, an official unveiling could be done by Samsung at the next Unpacked.

Chinese media reports that Huawei is developing a tri-fold smartphone that folds twice and is expected to be released as early as the second quarter of 2024. The company is rushing to launch its tri-fold this year and shouting to “overthrow Samsung” in the foldable phone market.

Last year, Google launched its first foldable smartphone, which gives tough competition to Samsung in the US. Foldable phones no longer remain a wonderful innovation in the tech industry, as, for instance, Samsung will release sixth-generation foldable models this year.

For a long, smartphone makers have been exploring new form factors and innovative designs for future products. This year, we could see the world’s first tri-fold foldable phone, whether it will be from Samsung or Huawei, as they both race up to be the first.

Reports claim that Huawei’s development is currently progressing smoothly. Last year, the company started testing the completeness of ultra-thin tempered glass in its tri-fold smartphone. Furthermore, China’s BOE will supply display panels, and Zhaoli and Fusda will participate in hinge production.
