Ming-Chi Kuo: Foldable market stagnant, but Samsung aims higher with Galaxy S24
Samsung plans to share 12 million foldable and flippable smartphones this year. The company has increased its shipments target by 2 million units after decreasing it from 15 million to 10 million units last year.
On the other hand, the shipment forecast of the Galaxy S24 series, which boasts Galaxy AI capabilities, has increased by 5-10%. Thanks to Galaxy AI, the biggest Android vendor is standing rock solid against Apple’s tsunami.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that global smartphone sales have started to strengthen gradually. As people prefer foldable as their next smartphone upgrade, Samsung is eyeing to score as much as it can.
The foldable iPhone is uncertain, whereas the South Korean tech giant continues to evolve its foldable and flippable segments. This year, the company plans to ship 12 million units of foldable and flippable smartphones.
In addition, Galaxy AI is helping Samsung to stay ambitious for its newly launched Galaxy S flagships. Benefiting from GenAI, the Galaxy S24’s 2024 shipment forecast has been increased by about 5–10%.
