I often receive a bulk of short messages, even a sentence of 6 words in 6 messages if something exciting happens. It leaves my Pixel phone playing the notification sound like a phone call arrived.
With the new OS, Google introduced a new Notification Cooldown feature to lessen the impact of repeat notifications. You can find it by opening the Settings and searching for “Notification cooldown” or by navigating to Settings > Notifications > Notification cooldown.
You will be able to pick your preferred app to be regulated by the Notification Cooldown feature. At the same time, you are always free to select the native option to apply the change on all apps available on the phone.
In short, what will happen is that the first notification from a particular app will arrive at the normal volume, and after that, each successive notification from the same app will become quieter.
