Huawei launching Pocket 2 flippable without Android, Google Apps
Huawei has no access to US technologies such as advanced chipsets, the Android operating system, and Google Mobile Services. The company is surviving in the market, leveraging on its self-developed operating system namely HarmonyOS.
In a recent development, Huawei confirmed to launch of its 2024 flippable – the Pocket 2 on February 22. This smartphone will also lack Android operating system and access to GMS. Despite technological innovations, the gadget lacking Android isn’t acceptable in the global market.

The Chinese phone maker today shared a teaser confirming the launch date of Pocket 2 in China. The flippable phone may also be available in the global market, including countries in Southeast Asia and Europe. Samsung is expected to continue to dominate flippable segment.

Huawei’s next flip-style foldable phone is rumored to boast a larger cover screen than its predecessor. It’s also expected to come with a triple camera module as well as some smart features derived from artificial intelligence and machine learning.
