Recently, there were reports that Apple decided to pause its foldable phone ambitions. The iPhone maker has failed Samsung’s foldable phones in its lab tests, indicating a halt on the foldable iPhone due to durability concerns.

Meanwhile, the new report says that the previous rumor was completely untrue. Apple hasn’t given up on the foldable segment but transferred key staff from its revolutionary Vision Pro team to foldable development.

The report also states that the US tech giant is aiming to sell around 50 million Flippable iPhones globally. It is said that barring any unforeseen changes, Apple’s iFlip (LOL, tentative name) phone will go on sale in September 2026.

Apple iFlip Rumored Specs

  • It will be a clamshell-style foldable phone, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip.
  • It will have a 7.6-inch foldable OLED display and a 2.7-inch external display.
  • It will be powered by the A series Bionic chip.
  • It could be priced around $1,500.

At present, Samsung is the leading player in the foldable smartphone market. Google has also launched its first foldable last year, while the second-gen Pixel Fold is also coming, but Apple’s entry could shake things up.

Since Apple has a reputation for making high-quality products, it will be interesting to see how its foldable phone is received by consumers as this form factor is still a relatively new technology.
