Gboard Proofread feature will support selected text
Gboard introduces the Proofread feature on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Using it, Pixel users can check and correct any typed, pasted, or voice-dictated text in their text box for writing errors like typos, grammar, and punctuation.
Currently, Gboard Proofread supports the entire text, with Google testing support for selected text. X user AssembleDebut found that Gboard Beta adds a new flag to enable proofreading mode work on the selected text.

Per the findings, Android’s native keyboard app – Gboard – with the latest Beta 13.9 brings a flag – writing_helper_on_selected_text. It allows the app to support selected text for proofreading instead of a full message.
Thanks to the ability to support selected text, Gboard proofread mode will be quite useful. In particular, it will allow users to address errors in very long texts by just selecting and highlighting a part of the entire text.
The change is currently flagged and Google will release it with a future release of the application.
This will be helpful with very long texts because proofreading mode may not work with very long texts. https://t.co/WlNvlE4lVH
