Android preps to force Samsung adopt A/B Seamless Updates
Google could finally be able to force Samsung to adopt A/B Seamless Updates soon. While hope arises for Seamless Updates future on Galaxy devices too, Samsung might revert Google’s decision by making self update mechanism.

Google also tried mandating Seamless Updates with Android 13. However, Samsung overlooked it, resulting in the recently released Galaxy S24 series also lack support for A/B partition update.
While Google is preparing to expand Seamless Updates, it may not be enough to get Samsung in. If the Galaxy maker isn’t in favor, it will develop its own update mechanism for Galaxy products to bypass Android’s conditions.
Mishaal Rahman notes that the US tech giant would need to actually mandate the use of A/B through the CDD or GMS licensing, which they’ve tried to do but ended up reneging.
Google is preparing to fully remove support for non-A/B updates from Android, leaving A/B updates as the only officially supported OTA update mechanism moving forward.
