Recently, there were rumors that Google is shutting down its Gmail platform. While Google has no plans of sunsetting Gmail, the Google Pay app is officially confirmed to discontinue in the US in June 2024.

Google officially announced that the Google Pay app is sunsetting on June 4, 2024. The company aims to simplify the payments platform, as Google Wallet is already there – something similar to what Samsung did last year.

Notably, you can continue to view and transfer your funds to your bank account after June 4, 2024, from Google Pay website. To find out best deals when shopping, you will have to use the newly released deals destination on Search.

Changes to peer-to-peer payments: As of June 4, 2024, you will no longer be able to send, request or receive money from others through the US version of the Google Pay app.

Apart from the US, Google Pay will continue to work for millions of its users residing in India and Singapore. The company also confirmed that it will continue to build for the unique needs of those countries.
