Control Spotify playback from Android output switcher
Google today announced that Spotify Connect will now support Android media output switcher. The company aims to offer the same seamless output-switching experience as YouTube Music to Spotify Connect devices.
As the update rollout progresses, when you’re playing media on Spotify, the output switcher will now show Spotify Connect devices. In addition, Google also rolled out 6 more Android and 2 Wear OS features for consumers.

The output switcher on Android’s home screen already helps you easily switch between your devices when playing YouTube Music — whether it’s your phone speaker, headphones, smart speakers or TV.
Notably, this rollout was originally expected in 2023. Last year, Google said that it was “working closely with Spotify to enable their users to easily switch playback between any Spotify Connect device from Android’s media player.”
