Apple iPhone 16 series will continue to ship with LTPS and LTPO display technology, indicates TheElec report.

Until the iPhone 16 series, OLED TFT methods are divided into two types: LTPO and two types of low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS). The company will likely use LTPO OLED in all four iPhone 17 series models next year.

Earlier, reports say that Apple will maintain the use of an LTPS screen in the iPhone 17 vanilla model. Since the differentiation of the iPhone 17 line is more important to Apple, LTPO OLED will be applied to all four models.

China’s BOE is expected to supply OLED panels to Apple for iPhone SE4 and iPhone legacy models, releasing next year. There is a high possibility that the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 OLED, a 2022 model, will be reused for the iPhone SE4.

To be noted, Apple has been applying LTPO screen to the premium models – Pro and Pro Max since 2021. At the same time, LTPS displays the regular models – Standard and Plus.
