Feature to unlock chat outside WhatsApp spotted
WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.24.5.18 indicates that the feature to unlock chat across third-party apps is under development. A new section joined WhatsApp, allowing users to decide whether to enable third-party chats.
Using this new WhatsApp feature, users can message people outside of WhatsApp. Since end-to-end encryption must be kept in interoperable messaging systems, third-party apps may use different end-to-end encryption.
Once enabled, these chats will be listed in a different inbox within the chats tab. The platform advises users to stay careful when engaging in conversations through third-party chats as spam and scams may be more common.
WhatsApp is making these changes to comply with the regulations of the European Union. It’s a significant upgrade for consumers, as it promises more versatile communication options within their favorite messaging app.
