WhatsApp seems to be in the final phase of testing the third-party chats feature. European Union’s Digital Markets Act will require WhatsApp to enable interoperability with other messaging apps by March 6, 2024.

Recently, WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.24.6.2 update was released with more details on the third-party chats feature. A toggle is in development as part of allowing users to turn off the chat interoperability service.

The Meta-owned messaging app is developing a feature to allow users to choose which third-party apps should communicate, giving them the freedom to choose the extent of their integration with external services.
