Android’s Phone app integrates Google Meet Video Call shortcut
Phone by Google is Android’s default dialer app used by many vendors. Recently, it was spotted that the Phone by Google app is adding a Video Call shortcut that lets users quickly invite the person to a Google Meet.
Notably, the Google Meet video call shortcut is appearing on the Phone by Google app in non-Pixel handsets too. While it’s a significant upgrade to the application, users demand it to be a native video call rather than Meet.
Google Phone app’s latest Beta update probably brought the video call chip to Android devices. Therefore, a Public rollout with the next Stable release is expected for Google Pixel and some other Android handsets.
When you make a call, the video call chip will appear above the shortcuts section. The chip flaunts an icon along with the video call label. Hitting this chip takes you to the Google Meet app to easily invite the person for a Video Call.
The Phone by Google app is starting to show a new "video call" chip during phone calls for some users. Tapping this chip opens a page that lets you quickly invite the person you're calling to a Google Meet call.
