Google Files app gets nifty Scan feature for docs and more
Files by Google app adds a new “Scan” button, which offers easier scanning of docs and more. The new feature is rolling out sequentially, and we advise you to update the app to its latest version via Play Store.
Hitting the Scan button opens the Camera viewfinder, where you get two options to capture the doc; Manual and Auto Capture. Aligned as the second option, Auto Capture opens by default when you hit the Scan button.
Thanks to the Auto Capture feature, the camera itself identifies the document in the viewfinder and captures a picture. Once captured, you can further edit the document’s image such as cropping and enhancing.
Saved documents will be accessed through the Scanned folder within the Files by Google app’s Documents section. In our opinion, it’s a significant upgrade that offers an easier and quicker ability to digitize physical documents.
Images you capture won’t be sent to the Files by Google app. Through an information window, the app makes it clear that only the finally saved file will be shared with the Files app keeping the privacy and sensitivity to top-notch.
Google Files makes it easier to store documents. 💫
