Google Phone app showing up WhatsApp call logs for some

Google Phone app seems to be showing up WhatsApp call logs alongside native phone calls. A user (via MishaalRahman) claimed that his Android phone’s Google Phone app is displaying WhatsApp call logs as well.

Usually, the Google Phone app shows phone calls made by the carrier network in the logbook. Meanwhile, the user’s phone also showcases calls made/received from WhatsApp, as well as pasting a label to differentiate.

I checked the Phone app on my Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 6 but there’s no integration of WhatsApp calls noticed. It appears to be a server-side rollout, meaning the change is under testing and might be available shortly.

Mishaal notes that since Android 9, third-party calling apps could opt-in to have calls logged in the system call log. Therefore, it’s possible that WhatsApp may integrate its call log section with Phone app for easier access.
