Google Search’s People cards feature is going to be discontinued next month. The company is notifying users who created their people card on Search regarding the termination of its virtual visiting cards feature.

The company found that the People cards (Google Search’s virtual visiting cards) feature wasn’t as helpful for people as it hoped, resulting in, the People cards feature will be discontinued on April 7, 2024.

Back in August 2020, the search engine giant introduced this People cards feature for Search. It’s like a virtual visiting card, where you can highlight your existing website or social profiles you want people to visit.

Since it failed to fulfill Google’s expectations, it’s going to be discontinued next month. Email citing termination of People cards reads: “You’re receiving this email because you created a people card on Google Search.”

“While people cards worked as intended, in the years since its launch, we’ve learned this feature wasn’t as helpful for people as we hoped.” Google tells users via email.

On April 7th, 2024, the people cards feature will be discontinued, making it impossible to create new people cards or update existing ones. You can download or save your content until May 7, afterwards the information will be deleted.
