Meta’s X competitor Threads has gained support for Ultra HDR images and 10-bit HDR videos on Google Pixel devices. With the March Feature Drop, Google announced an HDR upgrade for Instagram, which also applied to Threads.

Threads quietly added support for Ultra HDR images and 10-bit HDR videos on Google Pixel devices. The application got updated to a newer version yesterday, which seems to have brought enhancements related to HDR functionalities.

It’s worth noting that Threads HDR support has arrived on Google Pixel 7, 7 Pro, Fold, 8, and 8 Pro. When you open the app, you should see Ultra HDR images and 10-bit HDR videos. Older Pixel models stand unsupported since the HDR feature requires a compatible display.

To enable Ultra HDR images, open the Google camera app > Settings > More settings > Advanced > Ultra HDR > toggle on. For 10-bit HDR video uploads, open the Google camera app > Settings > 10-bit HDR > toggle on.
