Google Contacts app upgrades with Connected apps section UI
Google Contacts app is testing a dedicated section for Connected apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram. You may have noticed toggles of WhatsApp phone/video calls next to the native calling buttons in the Contacts app.
These toggles let you directly make a phone call, video call, or message to the person through the corresponding app. Google is bringing a dedicated section to the Contacts app as part of enhancing usability and visibility.
As discovered by AssembleDebug, Google Contacts app 4.26 comes with a new Connected apps UI. Accounts that require a phone number to function will appear on the same page, featuring a dropdown menu for additional actions.
Currently, the Contacts app lists about three options for each connected app. Whereas the upgraded application divided them into individual sections, with a dropdown menu allowing voice calls, video calls, and messages.
The update rollout is happening gradually, meaning you may not receive it immediately. However, updating your phone’s Google Contacts app to the latest official release significantly increases the chance of feature’s arrival.
