Google may have dropped the Mirror display feature on the Pixel 8 series with Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2. The feature makes it possible to mirror your Pixel phone’s screen to an external display without using special peripherals.

It’s the 1st time that Google’s version of Android is bringing a Mirror display feature to the Pixel lineup. Samsung, on the other hand, has DeX that turns flagship Galaxy devices into a portable PC when an external display is connected.

At present, Pixel’s Mirror display feature is not pretty impressive as compared to Samsung’s DeX. Meanwhile, it’s a welcome move that the search engine giant is exploring ways to expand productivity on Pixel phones.

The company has enabled DisplayPort Alternate Mode on a hardware level on the Pixel 8 series. Now, the phones can mirror the screen to an external screen using a compatible USB-C to USB-C or USB-C to HDMI adapter.

If the Mirror display feature is deployed in Android 14’s latest Beta by mistake, it will be removed shortly. Android expert MishaalRahman reports that the Google Pixel 9 series might debut a revamped desktop mode experience.
