Google Messages gets custom color themes for RCS chats
Google Messages app rolling out custom color themes feature for RCS chats. The feature was first spotted in November last year and appears to be making its way to some Beta testers in the US.
According to the info, the Google Messages app’s version 20240308 brings custom color themes for RCS chats. Meanwhile, the change isn’t available for all consumers, hinting at the initial rollout of the custom themes feature.
You can easily check the feature’s availability on your phone’s Messages app. Just tap the 3-dot menu button inside a chat and select Change colors from the overflow menu – here you will see nine different color options.
By default, the app uses Material You dynamic theming to pull its subtle accent colors from your device wallpaper. Besides, the other eight options use more vibrant colors for sent-message bubbles and backgrounds.
