Google Chrome gets real-time Safe Browsing protections

Published

on

Google announced Chrome will now use real-time Safe Browsing protections to show warnings on potentially dangerous sites. Following Chrome on desktop and iOS, the feature is coming to Android later this month.

Standard protection mode for Chrome will now check sites against Google’s server-side list of known bad sites in real-time. If Google suspects a site poses a risk to you or your device, you’ll see a warning with more information.

It uses encryption and other privacy-enhancing techniques to ensure that no one knows what website you’re visiting. Despite using even more assets from the browser, Chrome will continue to ensure a smooth and speedy experience.

Google recommends turning on Safe Browsing’s Enhanced Protection mode for more protection, thanks to the use of AI to block attacks, provides deep file scans, and offers extra protection from malicious Chrome extensions.
