Android 15 will bring a new App Archiving feature, which will allow you to keep the app’s data on uninstall. Saved app data will help you when you reinstall the uninstalled app when required.

Presumably headed for stable Android 15, app archiving feature allows you to save storage space by offloading the majority of an unused app while keeping your user data, making for a smooth transition should you choose to reinstall it.

For instance, Mishaal archived Uber.

The app took up 387 megabytes of storage on his phone. After the app was archived, that space went down to about 18 megabytes. Upon reinstalling the full app, Mishaal was already logged in and ready to go, as if nothing had happened.

It will greatly enhance the overall experience as your phone won’t have to carry a lot of apps. Less useful apps will no longer be required to stay installed on the phone all the time as you will be able to archive them.

It will free up your phone’s storage and there won’t be any chance of additional battery or data usage by the app in the background. Well, the feature is expected to be available on select devices with the Android 15 operating system.
