WhatsApp brings Material 3 Search Bar to chat list, have a look

The latest WhatsApp Beta for Android removes the Search Icon and brings a large Search Bar to the chat list. This change significantly eases the application’s Search functionality, as the bar is now appearing directly.

At present, the Search Icon is aligned in the app’s header along with the Camera and hamburger menu. Hitting the Search Icon brings a Search Bar where users can search for contacts and numbers on WhatsApp.

Notably, the search bar arrived on WhatsApp for Android with the Beta version 2.24.7.1. Since the development is underway, the feature may undergo important changes before reaching the public release stage.

WABetaInfo, which discovered the Search Bar feature, reports that the search bar feature for the chats list interface is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app.
