Latest Google Contacts update removes navigation drawer, simplifies UI

Google Contacts app is simplifying the user interface with its latest update alongside replacing its navigation drawer. The company made identical changes to the Google Messages app UI, which now expands to Contacts.

The updated Google Contacts app has a new dropdown to switch between “All contacts” and other email accounts. Next to your profile avatar, the app now displays “Customize view” rather than the overflow menu.

Labels feature now aligns inside the right-swipe section, letting you pick up a label or create a new one. In addition, there’s a new icon at the end of that row to show/hide the filters for contacts, email contacts, and company.

You may notice this change on Google Contacts version 4.27.26.x. If the redesign hasn’t yet been applied, you can try rebooting your device. Do you like the change? Let us know in the comments.
