Amid rumors of crafting a custom update method, Samsung implemented Android’s Seamless Updates feature on Galaxy phones. The Galaxy A55 5G became the first Samsung device to fulfill the long-standing demand for the Seamless Updates feature.

The Mobile Indian reports that Samsung Galaxy A55 5G displays a two-stage installation process – “Downloading and Installing” and “Verification”. This development comes shortly after Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series debut, which lacks, as of now, the Seamless Updates feature.

It’s assumed that the South Korean tech giant strategically implemented this functionality, starting with a mid-ranger. Once the experiment reaches a satisfactory milestone, it could be made available on recent flagships such as the S24 and S23 series.

A/B Partition Update: When an update is initiated, the new firmware is installed on the inactive partition. This is where the phone finally requires a reboot, to transition to the updated partition. Resulting in, it does not require the same amount of time that is needed to install the update.
