9to5Google spotted that the new “Verification settings” in Google Wallet allows you to “choose if you’ll need to verify it’s you when using your payment methods and passes in Wallet.”

  • Choose if you’ll need to verify it’s you when using your items stored in Wallet. You’ll verify using your device lock setting, like fingerprint or PIN.

To access the new “Security” section, simply open Google Wallet, tap your profile image, and select Wallet settings.  At present, Transit payments option is only available under the Verification settings page.

  • “Verification before paying for the bus, metro, and more with a credit or debit card.”

Following the update, the Verification required option will be turned on by default. However, you can disable the toggle anytime to end the need for verification towards payments on Google Wallet for Android.
