Google updates Gemini to automatically start Maps navigation
Google starts updating Gemini to initiate Maps navigation itself on command. The company replaced Google Assistant with Gemini on Android, and finishing touches across functions are now being deployed.
With its latest attempt (via 9to5Google), Google reiterates its commitment to make Gemini a better phone assistant. When you ask for directions, Gemini now automatically start navigation on Google Maps.

Google mentioned in the latest update that users can now use their voice to set reminders and calendar entries with the Gemini app if your Workspace extension is turned on in your Gemini app settings.
- Workspace extension availability varies by country. See more details here.
The update brought auto-submit to the voice commands segment, ending to need to hit the send button by user. So far, giving commands for navigation first shows a summary of the route, how long it will take, and how many miles.
