Android 15 will bring an avant cellular transparency feature

Google is testing an advanced cellular transparency feature in Android 15. Pixel devices are expected to receive the new function with the first Public release of the new operating system next month.

Folks over at AndroidAuthority discovered that Android 15 will warn you when a cellular network collects your device’s unique ID or is using an insecure connection for enhanced protection.

As part of protecting Android phones from stingray attacks, Google is bringing a cellular transparency feature. Android 15 can better protect users by proactively alerting them when a network records their device’s IMSI or IMEI.

Stingray:

Stingray is an electronic device used to mimic a cellular network to trick a device into connection. Once connected, it allows the collection of your device’s unique ID for tracking purposes or switching to an insecure connection.
