Google Password Manager getting support for password import using a CSV file. With the March 2024 Play System Update, Google is updating Android’s Password Manager with the ability to import passwords.

The company notes that Google Play Services v24.12 brings CSV import support to Password Manager. Now, users can export passwords in bulk from one device to another, easily and securely.

3 Steps to import passwords

You can import passwords to your Google Account, and then check if any passwords aren’t secure. Passwords in your Google Account will sync across all devices you sign in to.

Step 1: Download your passwords as a .CSV file

  • Only passwords in the .CSV file format can be imported to your Google Account.

Step 2: Import passwords

  • Go to passwords.google.com.
  • In the top right, select Settings then Import, and then Select File.
  • Choose your file.
  • Select Import.

Step 3: Delete your .CSV password file

  • After you import passwords to your Google Account, delete the .CSV password file you downloaded.

To ensure your passwords are formatted properly, open your .CSV file and check if the first line includes the URL, username & password. Also, if you don’t delete your password file, anyone with access to the device can open the file and access your passwords.
