Android 15 preparing big redesign of Pixel volume panel [Gallery]
Google Pixel phones seem to be getting a renovated volume panel with Android 15. The company is apparently testing a major redesign which might take over as Pixel’s new volume panel, years after the previous design change.
Mishaal discovered the existence of a completely redesigned volume panel in Android 15 Developer Preview 2. It could be available with the Public Beta or Stable release to general Pixel users, as it’s currently hidden behind flags.
As you can see in the screenshots, the new design features much thicker, pill-shaped sliders. Mishaal notes that a dot is placed at the end where the slider’s maximum value is, and the icons are also tappable to mute that stream quickly.
The behavior is also enhanced, making the panel collapsible, thanks to the button next to the media volume slider. If there’s an active media playback, the volume panel is collapsed by default, otherwise opens expanded.
Following the roadmap, Google released Developer Preview 2 this month. The company will likely kick off the Public Beta Program for Pixel and many other Android handsets next month.
