Google Chat testing new Announcements feature (WhatsApp Communities?)
Google Chat is testing a new Announcements feature. This shows Google’s continuous efforts to evolve the Chat application on Android. X user AssembleDebug spotted that the company is preparing a new option when setting up a new space in Google Chat.
The description of the Google Chat app’s new Announcements feature reads — “Broadcast and share updates with your group.” Meanwhile, the page displays an incomplete user interface, confirming that the work is still underway and changes might happen.
This sounds like the Communities feature of WhatsApp, which combines many Groups and can be used for announcements at the same time. It offers easier usability and large-scale interactions rather than personal chats and small-group messaging.
Apart from Communities, WhatsApp also joined Telegram by launching the Channels feature. There are thousands of channels have been created on the platform, and millions of users joined their preferred channels across categories to get the latest updates.
Google Chat is working on a new "Announcements" feature which will allow you to "Broadcast and share updates with your groups"
