Welcome to Weekly Headlines at I M Judge!

Google is close to releasing the April 2024 Pixel Update to eligible devices. So it’s the fifth week of our Weekly Headlines streak that takes you to all the latest and breaking insights about Google and Android. I will try to put useful and interesting topics as much as possible.

Gemini AI for Pixel 8

Big development: Google Pixel 8 will use Gemini Nano for a couple of AI features starting with the June 2024 Feature Drop. The company also revealed that the Pixel 8 users have to enable Gemini Nano through Developer Settings.

Pixel 9 Pro XL

Google could launch three flagship phones in the Pixel 9 lineup this year. The company appears to be bringing back the XL model along with the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro.

Pixel Watch 3 Battery

Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch 3 will pack a 307mAh battery, as Dekra and Safety Korea confirmed. Notably, the original Pixel Watch has a 294mAh battery, while the Pixel Watch 2 has a 304mAh battery.

Android 15 Volume Panel

Google is testing a major redesign which might take over as Pixel’s new volume panel. The new design features much thicker, pill-shaped sliders, and Mishaal mentioned that a dot is placed at the end where the slider’s maximum value is, and the icons are also tappable to mute that stream quickly.

Google Chat – Announcements and Voice Messages

  • Announcements: Google Chat is testing a new Announcements feature. This sounds like the Communities feature of WhatsApp that combines many Groups and can be used for announcements.
  • Voice Messages: Google introduced voice messages on Chat mobile (with web support coming soon). It reiterated Google’s continuous efforts to improve the Google Chat experience.
