Google Phone app to get unknown number lookup feature

Evidence found in the Google Phone app’s Beta version 127.0.620688474 shows that an unknown number lookup feature is coming by June 2024. Google appears to be bringing a Truecaller search-like feature to Android’s Phone app so users can verify where they are calling.

Google Phone app will add a new toggle entitled “Lookup” with a future release. Using this new toggle in the call log section, users can look up unknown numbers. Well, it won’t be initially as useful as Truecaller search as the Phone app will simply perform a Google Search.

When you get a call from an unsaved number, you pick it up or first search for who’s calling. To do so, Truecaller is a popular platform, but not reliable, while people also cross-search on the Google app which delivers authentic results for registered businesses.

The Lookup feature will simplify a number’s query on Google Search. You won’t need to manually copy a phone number and search on Google Search. While Truecaller won’t initially get any threat, Google might further improve the Lookup feature to spot individuals.
