Samsung surpassed Apple in the first quarter of 2024 sales globally. Samsung’s victory is bringing significant growth to Google’s OS, with IDC’s research director Nabila Popal believing Android to grow at ‘twice the pace of iOS’ in 2024.

IDC’s director Nabila Popal said that Android will likely grow significantly in 2024, at “twice the pace” of Apple’s iOS. It’s a big blow to Apple’s iOS, suggesting a market decline as it’s slipping grip in China and facing legal difficulties in the United States.

Amid booming iPhone sales in the global market, Android’s market growth shrunk. Google’s OS still maintains the position of being run on most mobiles, slower growth momentum hurts the most. Meanwhile, 2024 is going to be a good year for Android & unquestionably Google!

“It’s also very significant that Samsung is back at the top,” Popal said. “This year, we are expecting Android to grow at twice the pace of iOS.” (Android is the operating system used by Samsung systems, while iPhones use iOS.)

In the first quarter of this year, the US tech giant’s sales tumbled a stunning 10%. Last year, the iPhone maker kicked out Samsung from the leading position, but the Galaxy maker took just a quarter to push back Apple to runner up position in the global market.
