Google Pixel 9 series will bring new on-device AI features. The company will introduce the next-gen Pixel phones later this year. Meanwhile, the latest version of Google’s AI Core app reveals some of the upcoming features that are in development.

According to the info, the Google Pixel 9 series will be capable of generative text-to-image without relying on the cloud. The Pixel 8 series supports AI-powered wallpaper generation, but it requires cloud services, however, the Pixel 9 would turn it entirely on-device.

Optical Character Recognition is a quite useful feature, which will be updated with improved on-device text recognition. Besides, Google Messages is developing on-device features to replace the cloud-powered ones, such as the ability to answer questions.

The AI Core app shows evidence of features like LLM (Large Language Model), AUTOFILL_SMART_REPLY for generating complex auto-reply suggestions, TEXT_CLASSIFICATION for categorizing text, and EMBEDDING for processing attached images or PDFs for tasks like summarization.

OnePlus and OPPO earlier revealed that their next flagships would be equipped with the Gemini Ultra AI model. Therefore, chances are high that premium Pixel 9 models might also feature Google’s most advanced large language AI model for on-device features.
