Google Maps may get satellite connectivity features
Google Pixel 9 series may debut Satellite Connectivity feature later this year. Google has been working on satellite text messages, satellite connectivity UI for Pixel 9, etc for a long. New findings indicate that Google Maps will also add satellite connectivity features.
AssembleDebug (via PiunikaWeb) discovered evidence suggesting satellite features in the Google Maps app. A handful of strings have been spotted in Google Maps Beta v11.125, confirming the satellite-based location-sharing feature’s development.
This new Google Maps feature will allow users to update their location in Maps every 15 minutes directly via satellite. Despite losing internet connectivity, users with supported devices will be able to share their location with emergency services to help find out.
Notably, you will be able to use this life-saving feature 5 times a day. Beyond text-based SOS, location will help emergency services reach the location easily. It shows Google has a solid plan for satellite connectivity deployment in its Pixel smartphones.
