Google Photos will get backup feature for new folders

Google Photos is preparing to upgrade the backup feature with the ability to select all new folders. The backup feature is already available on the application, but it requires you to select each new app to save on the cloud. However, the company is working to address this time-consuming task.

AndroidAuthority discovered that Google Photos is testing the enhanced backup feature with the ability for a broader range of apps. There will be selection toggles, letting you select which newly created folder to be backed up on the cloud, rather than manually picking one by one.

Google Photos app’s latest version (v6.81.0.628906483) teases this upgraded backup. While it is currently hidden in the source code and flags, the development suggests imminent rollout. It’s combined with a description that reads “Automatically turn on backup when a new folder is added.”

This new backup enabler tool will let you enable turn-on backup automatically for new folders. This will be accessible in the Device folders settings, which can be found by heading over to Photo settings > Backup > Backup device folders.
