Google Messages will now stop showing messages from blocked contacts in group chats. The company is preparing for a minor yet significant change, which will not let any message surface in group chat if on accounts that have blocked that contact.

AndroidAuthority reports that the latest Beta of Google Messages hides messages from blocked contacts in group chats. This change will prevent you from seeing messages from blocked contacts anywhere on the app.

The feature to block someone is already available in Google Messages. However, messages sent by the blocked contact will still showcased in group chats, making it somewhat disappointing in certain cases.

Google Messages won’t be restricting the blocked contact’s access to seeing your messages in the group chats. Simply put, if you block someone, you won’t get the blocked contacts messages anywhere across the application.

The company is currently testing the feature on the Beta channel. Once the testing phase concludes, a Public rollout will begin, which may take about a week or two to be expanded widely.
