Google is working with Dixon Technologies to kickstart Pixel 8 smartphone production in India. In a recent development, it has been reported that a local contract manufacturer will produce the Pixel 8 for Google, with the first batch of Made in India Pixel 8 set to hit shelves later this year.

According to reports, Dixon Technologies will produce the Google Pixel 8 in India. The current units being sold in the country are produced in either China or Vietnam. It has been observed that Vietnamese factories are exposing key elements and phones months before their official debut.

India’s push to increase local production is also attracting smartphone makers. The country is providing competitive pricing for production, and keeping a huge number of citizens is also a benefit for sales. There are reports that Dixon will be producing up to 1 lakh units per month.

“Dixon Technologies to manufacture Pixel 8 smartphones in India to compete with Apple and Samsung in the Rs 50,000-plus price range. Google aims to increase its market share in India despite import duties, considering Foxconn as a potential manufacturing partner.” EconomicTimes report.
